Citations will be issued for improperly discarding cigarettes. Citations will be issued — no exceptions — no warnings.

We will notify the public immediately of any changes. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you hear the sirens, please turn your radio station to 1490 AM immediately for further instructions.

Level I Restrictions

1. Commercial fire pits approved for use (if specifically permitted by Fire Marshal).

2. Outdoor cooking approved on all types of appliances, including charcoal.

3. Non-commercial fire pits, campfires and/or fireworks are not allowed within the Village of Ruidoso (unless specifically permitted by Fire Marshal).

LEVEL II RESTRICTIONS

1. No charcoal briquettes or outdoor burning stoves on any public or private property.

2. UL/FM-approved gas grill shall be allowed.

3. No outside smoking on public or private property — except within an enclosed vehicle or building (unless in areas specifically permitted by the Fire Marshal).

4. Fireworks are restricted by state law.

5. No campfires.

6. Operating of a chainsaw or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine is allowed with a spark arresting device properly installed, maintained, and in effective working order.

7. Welding or operating acetylene or other torches with an open flame while in pursuit of one’s profession (hot tar roofing, driveway sealing, etc.) is allowed with a valid permit issued by the Fire Marshal.

8. All issued fire pit permits are temporarily suspended until extreme drought conditions no longer exist. You will be sent an email once the restrictions are lifted and returned to LEVEL I. Your permits will remain valid until their expiration dates. If you own a short-term rental, please immediately notify your guests.

LEVEL III RESTRICTIONS

  1. Any cooking or recreational device that uses charcoal or wood is not allowed.

  2. Gas and pellet cooking devices are allowed but must be attended at all times.

  3. No outdoor smoking.

  4. Campfires or any other recreational fire devices are not allowed.

  5. Operating of chainsaws or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine.

  6. Welding, metal grinding, hot tar roofing, driveway sealing, oxy-acetylene metal cutting, and any other work which produces a hot ember or visible flame is not allowed.

Citations will be issued - NO EXCEPTIONS, NO WARNINGS
