Cause: Unknown, Under Investigation

Date/Time Detected: April 12, 2022, 2:45

Location: Ruidoso, NM Gavilan Canyon Rd. spreading north. 

Firefighting Resources: County, Village of Ruidoso, and Forest Service firefighting resources, 2 aircraft. Additional resources have been ordered.

Fuel Type: Grasses, timber

Structures: Multiple structures were lost including homes in Ruidoso.

Values at Risk: Homes and outbuildings

Fire Update:  The Mcbride Fire started April 12, 2022, around 2:30 pm and is actively running from the Ruidoso High School area heading north towards the airport. Multiple structures have been lost. Everyone in Ruidoso north of the high school is under immediate evacuation notice. People should leave immediately. The fire is headed north through Homestead Loop, Eagle Creek headed towards the airport and Alto. Internet and power is out in Ruidoso. Please leave immediately.
