Blue 2 Wildfire Afternoon Update - May 27, 2024

SUMMARY

Efforts to contain the Blue 2 Wildfire continue with significant progress made today. Firefighting teams have successfully completed containment lines around Villa Madonna using bulldozers. In Sun Valley, engine crews are working to connect hose lines to bolster defense measures.

On the challenging terrains near Monjeau Peak, hotshot crews are directly building lines along the fire’s edge to the east, where conditions allow safe access. Single engine air tankers have been deployed, dropping retardant above Eagle Creek to support these ground operations.

The Upper Eagle Creek Summer Homes along Route 127A are now equipped with sprinkler systems as a precautionary measure.

Overnight developments on Soldier Mountain saw a spot fire on its west side, where hotshot crews and bulldozers are now constructing direct lines to contain the spread. The eastern side is also seeing intensive efforts with hotshots reinforcing the retardant line and cooling down the fire’s edge with the help of aerial resources. All structures in Mills Canyon have been prepared for potential fire impact.
