Support for PNM Customers During South Fork and Salt Fire Recovery

PSA

As the South Fork and Salt Fires continue to impact our community, the Village of Ruidoso is committed to supporting residents through this crisis. In collaboration with PNM, we are sharing essential guidelines to help PNM customers who are experiencing power outages due to the fires. These guidelines, provided by PNM, aim to ensure the safety and swift restoration of power for affected homes and businesses.

Power Restoration Guidelines:

  1. No Visible Structural or Electrical Damage:

    • PNM crews will automatically restore power as quickly as possible. No action is required on your part.

  2. Visible Structural or Electrical Damage:

    • Contact a licensed electrician to assess and repair the damage.

    • The electrician must submit a pre-final permit for reconnection to PNM at https://pnmnsd.powerclerk.com/. We will process this request immediately.

  3. Damage to Solar Systems, Energy Storage, or Other Renewable Generators:

    • Contact a licensed solar installation company to assess and repair the damage.

    • The solar installation company must submit an application for interconnection to PNM at https://pnminterconnect.powerclerk.com/.

  4. Total Loss of Home or Business Due to Fire:

    • PNM engineers are assessing field conditions and reporting losses.

    • PNM will automatically suspend billing and service for significantly damaged properties to ensure no further bills are generated, but your account will remain open for any support needed during the rebuilding process.

    • To stop service immediately, call the PNM Contact Center at 1-888-342-5766.

    • Verify the status of your service by logging into PNM.com.

Electrical Work and Inspections:

  • All electrical work must be inspected by State of New Mexico-certified inspectors, who will issue an approved permit for reconnection.

  • Once inspected and approved, PNM will reconnect the residence or business as quickly as possible.

For your convenience, here is a list of Ruidoso electricians and solar installers who have submitted applications for service to PNM. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and you may choose any licensed electrician. PNM does not provide preferential treatment and will process applications in the order they are received.

Extended Outages and Restoration Efforts:

The PNM electrical grid sustained damage from the wildfires, which may cause extended outages. Even after the outlined steps are completed, power restoration might not be immediate. Intermittent outages may occur as PNM restores power to the grid. The safety of our customers and crews and our ability to provide reliable power is paramount.

For state and federal relief information for reconstruction efforts, please visit FEMA's New Mexico Disaster Declarations.

During the evacuation order, the generation of customer bills and automatic draft payments have been suspended. If you have questions about your account or bill, visit PNM.com or call the PNM Contact Center at 1-888-342-5766.

Stay safe, and thank you for your patience and understanding as we work together to rebuild our community.
