Debris Removal after McBride Fire 2022

PSA

Hazardous debris after a wildfire can be toxic, and improper transport and disposal of fire debris can create dangerous impacts throughout the community.

As displaced residents are beginning to clean up their properties that were damaged in the McBride Fire, there has been dumping of burned materials at the VOR green waste dumpsites by Gavilan Canyon Field and at Grindstone.

This poses a significant risk to our community as some of the material that has been dumped is actually still smoldering and could easily catch the existing piles on fire.

For proper disposal of fire debris, please place it on the curb in front of your house, and the VOR grapple truck will come to remove it for you.

The Village will also provide each home that was destroyed by the McBride Fire with a roll-off to facilitate property clean-up. This applies to the damaged homes that are within the Village limits. Residents are asked to abide by the following when cleaning their property:

  • Separate green waste from other household waste

  • Please do not use the roll-offs to dispose of electronics or appliances; those items can be placed on the curb for removal

  • Please do not put rocks or brick into the roll-offs; place those items on the curb for removal

Thank you for your diligence in helping to ensure the safety of our community.
