What You Need to Know About Ruidoso’s Recent Public Notifications on Water Line Service Pipes
The Village of Ruidoso recently sent out public notifications regarding galvanized and unknown water pipes. We recognize that such messages can sometimes cause concern among residents. However, it is important to understand that this notification is a routine regulatory requirement designed to keep the Village in compliance with the New Mexico Environmental Department (NMED) and federal standards.
The notice is part of our ongoing effort to inform residents about the materials used in their service lines and to advance the Village's commitment to improved infrastructure and safe water for the community. It does not indicate that your drinking water is unsafe or that lead has been detected.
Your Drinking Water Remains Safe
The Village’s water system undergoes annual testing for copper and lead, consistently showing levels below the action threshold established by the EPA. Our most recent Consumer Confidence Report confirms that no lead has been found in the Village’s water system. You can review this report for more details: Consumer Confidence Report 2023.
Receiving a notice about galvanized, lead, or unknown service lines is solely informational and is required by federal regulations. It does not mean there is an immediate health risk.
