Ruidoso Raises Fire Restrictions to Level 3 Effective May 19, 2022

No open flames outside in the village, including campfires, cigarettes, Recreational Fire devices, and more.

The Village of Ruidoso will implement an escalation to Level 3 fire restrictions at 8 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, which bans sources of fire outside on any public or private property as follows due to extreme fire danger.

In addition to LEVEL II Restrictions, the following restrictions are now in place:

  1. ANY COOKING OR RECREATIONAL DEVICE THAT USES CHARCOAL OR WOOD IS NOT ALLOWED

  2. GAS AND PELLET COOKING DEVICES ARE ALLOWED BUT MUST BE ATTENDED TO AT ALL TIMES

  3. NO OUTDOOR SMOKING

  4. CAMPFIRES AND ANY OTHER RECREATIONAL FIRE DEVICES ARE NOT ALLOWED

  5. OPERATING OF CHAINSAWS OR OTHER EQUIPMENT POWERED BY AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IS NOT ALLOWED. CONTRACTORS REFER TO EXECUTIVE ORDER 2022-02.

  6. WELDING, METAL GRINDING, HOT TAR ROOFING, DRIVEWAY SEALING, OXY-ACETYLENE METAL CUTTING, AND ANY OTHER WORK WHICH PRODUCES A HOT EMBER OR VISIBLE FLAME ARE NOT ALLOWED.

  7. IGNITION AND/OR DETONATION OF FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED

    CITATIONS WILL BE ISSUED - NO EXCEPTIONS - NO WARNINGS WE WILL NOTIFY THE PUBLIC IMMEDIATELY UPON ANY CHANGES
