Ruidoso set to tackle litter; enhance public space through Clean and Beautiful Grant
The New Mexico Tourism Department (NMTD) has awarded $45,435 to the Village of Ruidoso through the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Grant Program for fiscal year 2023. Through this program, Ruidoso will use the funds to enhance public spaces and support local wildlife and ecosystems, among other projects.
Address Changes Coming to Ruidoso
The Village of Ruidoso is in the process of correcting the E-911 addressing issues in our community which is vital to help ensure life safety for our residents and visitors. Addresses have already been changed on Highway 70, followed by Sudderth and Mechem. Businesses will have 120 days to implement their new address information.

Gavilan Canyon Road Construction Project
The Ruidoso Street Department and the County of Lincoln will be doing road construction near the 500 block of Gavilan Canyon Road from May 23 to June 2, 2022. The construction is to add drainage improvements in an effort to mitigate the increased water flows expected during the upcoming monsoon season caused by the recent wildfire. Construction will be ongoing through June 2, 2022. There will be closures and delays. Please seek alternative routes.
Village of Ruidoso to Waive Construction Permit Fees for Rebuilding after McBride Fire
On May 3, 2022, the Village of Ruidoso issued emergency executive order 2022-01 to waive permit fees for the rebuilding of more than 200 structures that have been destroyed or damaged in the McBride Fire and wind event of April 12, 2022.

Ruidoso residents are asked to provide feedback on a long-range Moon Mountain outdoor recreation plan. The public can share their input via an online survey (in English or Spanish) and virtual attendance via Zoom at the next Steering Committee meeting at 4 PM on April 6, 2022. Broadband Expansion Survey
The Village of Ruidoso is coordinating a broadband expansion project. We are asking all residents to help with the planning process by participating in a brief survey. Please take the survey from your Ruidoso home or business. A short internet speed test will be done and your local address will be entered, no other personal information will be gathered. MIDTOWN LIGHT POLE REPLACEMENT PROJECT SET TO BEGIN FEB. 22
The Village of Ruidoso has contracted with APIC Solutions to replace all of the Village-owned wooden streetlight poles in the Midtown District with decorative metal streetlights. The contractor will be mobilizing equipment and materials starting on February 22, 2022. Construction, including the removal and replacement of poles, will start on February 28. The project is expected to take approximately six weeks and will be completed by the end of March.
CENTER STREET RENOVATION PROJECT TO BEGIN IN MID-FEBRUARY
The Village of Ruidoso and the Ruidoso Midtown Association are preparing to kick-off the Center Street renovation project. The project includes the renovation of Center Street from Sudderth Drive south to the intersection of Center Street and Wingfield Street. It will include new curbs and gutters, new sidewalks on both sides of the road and a slightly enlarged public parking lot behind Timbers Mall.
Village of Ruidoso Statement on Temporary Transfer of Water Rights
The Village of Ruidoso is completing the temporary transfer of up to 246 acre-feet of water rights (123 acre-feet of consumptive use) from the Ruidoso Downs Race Track to Village points of diversion for a maximum period of four years. This lease is the completion of a 30-year lease agreement the Village has with the Ruidoso Properties Irrevocable Management Trust.
