Alto Lake Restoration Project In Progress
The Village of Ruidoso has started work on the Alto Lake/Eagle Creek Restoration Project. The project is expected to take 120 calendar days and work will take place Monday-Friday from 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
The project will include river restoration, revegetation, the construction of a walking trail and pedestrian bridges, the addition of site amenities and a prefabricated restroom.
The first phase of construction, which has already begun, includes the trail system improvements and the addition of amenities. The second phase includes improvements to the Alto Lake dam site and crews will be re-routing the existing water line to the pump station. During the second phase of construction, the Forestry Department will also be performing a tree thinning project in the area on 11.5 acres to improve the health of our forests on the southeast end of the property. The thinning project is expected to take approximately 30 days.
The area will remain open to the public during the construction. However, during some of the phases of construction, access to some areas at Alto Lake may be limited. If you are coming to use the trail system, please be aware that there will be construction activity in the area and some portions of the trail may be temporarily closed for user safety
If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact Rodney Griego, Director of Parks & Recreation, at 575-257-5030.
