VOR Mourns the Death of Village Councilor Joe Gomez
The Village of Ruidoso sends its heartfelt condolences to the family of Village Councilor Joe Gomez who passed away early Saturday morning from cancer. Gomez worked for many years at Sierra Blanca Motors and sold many-a-car to residents of Ruidoso. After his retirement, Joe continued to be involved in the community that he loved so much not only as a Village Councilor, but also as an staunch advocate of The Nest and a HEAL board member.
"We are all terribly saddened by the news of Joe's passing. He is at peace now, and we are a resilient Ruidoso family that will always remember him as a gentleman and entertainer. That is just as he would want it," said Village Manager Debi Lee.
Mayor Tom Battin not only worked with Gomez in their roles within municipal government, but he also worked with him at Sierra Blanca Motors and considered him a close friend.
"Joe loved life, and he loved this community. He worked hard every day to make sure that he was doing his level best as a Village Councilor and as a resident to make Ruidoso better than it was the day before. We will honor Joe's legacy by continuing his work," said Mayor Battin.
Details on Gomez's funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
