30-Day Public Comment Period Now Open on Water Development Plan

An update to the Village of Ruidoso Water Development Plan is complete, and a 30-day public comment period is now open. During this 30-day period, Village residents and property owners are encouraged to give their input on the plan which presents information on the following subjects:

  • Current water use

  • Existing and future water conservation efforts

  • Population projections

  • Anticipated water demand

  • Water availability

  • The proposed 4-year planning period

  • The non-speculative nature of current and future use

  • The proposed implementation schedule for putting water to beneficial use

The Water Development Plan Update has been submitted to the Office of the State Engineer and will be submitted to the Ruidoso Village Council for consideration and approval with consideration of all public comments.

The 30-day public comment period will begin on Wednesday August 9, 2017 and end on Friday September 8, 2017 at 5:00 PM. All residents, property owners and other stakeholders of the Village of Ruidoso are encouraged to submit written comments or questions regarding the Ruidoso Water Development Plan Update to Eric Boyda, Water Rights and Conservation Specialist at Developmentplan@ruidoso-nm.gov.

A copy of this Water Development Plan Update will be available on August 9, 2017 for public review weekdays, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 AM at the Office of the Village Clerk, 313 Cree Meadows, Ruidoso, NM 88345.
