UPDATE: Ruidoso Police Continue Investigation After Two Bodies Discovered

RUIDOSO, NM – April 16, 2021 – At approximately 2:46 PM on Tuesday, April 13, officers with the Ruidoso Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of La Luz Drive in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, the deceased bodies of 46-year-old Jarrod Simpson and 46-year-old Tristina Simpson were discovered.

An autopsy of both bodies indicates that they both died of gunshot wounds. The Ruidoso Police Department wants to assure visitors and residents of the Village of Ruidoso that there is no threat to the safety of the community, and there is no person or persons of interest in this case.

The investigation is ongoing with a collaborative effort by the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney’s Office Major Crime Unit (MCU), which is comprised of the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Alamogordo Police Department, the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, the Lincoln County Sheriff Department and the Ruidoso Police Department. The New Mexico State Police are also providing assistance.
