Ruidoso Police Respond to Shooting at Local Business

On June 12, 2021 at 1:36 PM, Ruidoso Police dispatch received a call of a shooting that had occurred in the 25000 block of US HWY 70 at a business. Officers arrived and found the victim, a 43-year-old male, at an adjacent business and immediately provided medical care until Emergency Services arrived. The victim was transported to Lincoln County Medical Center and was subsequently airlifted to a trauma center in El Paso where he was last known to be in stable condition.

The suspect, a 70-year-old-male, was detained at the scene. This was an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public. No other suspects are involved.

 The 12th Judicial District Major Crimes Unit (MCU), which is comprised of the 12th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, the Ruidoso Police Department, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department, the Otero County Sheriff’s Department, and the Alamogordo Police Department, responded to assist in the investigation. The Ruidoso Downs Police Department also assisted with the investigation.
