The Blue 2 Wildfire has now affected 6,213 acres and is 0% contained. Additional firefighters have arrived on the scene, and more resources are en route. Located 8 miles north of Ruidoso, it involves 475 personnel, 170 crews, 42 engines, 5 helicopters, and 2 bulldozers. Significant fire activity is on the northeast and southern perimeters. Highlights

Additional firefighters have arrived on the scene, and more resources are en route. Firefighters are actively engaging with the fire along the most active areas where it is safe to do so. They are working tirelessly both during the day and at night. Air resources, including helicopters, are used for water and retardant drops whenever weather permits.

Fire Activity

The fire has been most active on its northeast and southern perimeters. An acre-sized spot fire was detected in Dry Mills Canyon, while a more significant 100-acre spot fire was detected on Soldier Mountain.

Weather Conditions

The region is experiencing historic wind events, combined with dry conditions and high temperatures, which are contributing to the fire's rapid spread.
