Village of Ruidoso Begins Additional Sewer Surveys
Beginning September 12, 2019, the Village of Ruidoso will be undertaking additional topographic and boundary surveys for the Mitigation Phase of the ongoing FEMA sewer line rehabilitation project. The Village has contracted with both Precision Surveys and Terra Land Surveys for these services. Survey crews will be in vehicles that will be clearly marked as Precision Surveys or Terra Land Surveys, and individuals will have safety vests during their working operations to assist property owners in identifying them.

Wibit Water Park Opens at Grindstone Lake
The Village of Ruidoso and the Parks and Recreation Department added a Wibit Water Park at Grindstone Lake! The floating, inflatable platform made up of giant slides, towers, trampolines, ramps, wiggle bridges and other play features, is perfect for family fun, birthday parties and special events.
Lincoln National Forest to Host Open Houses on Forest Plan Revision
We’re on the way to a forest plan revision for Lincoln National Forest. Please join us in this process. Community meetings will be held July 16-19, 2019, in Ruidoso, Carlsbad, Cloudcroft, and Alamogordo to provide opportunities for input on the recently released Forest Plan Revision Need for Change and Preliminary Draft Forest Plan.
Summer Reading Program: A Universe of Stories

Economic Revitalization through Brownfields: Redevelop Your Vacant Properties Workshop
The EPA’s Brownfields Program provides grants and technical assistance to communities, states, tribes and others to assess, safely clean up and sustainably reuse contaminated properties. To learn more about how this program could be put to productive use in our community the Village of Ruidoso is hosting a FREE workshop on June 25, 2019, from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm at the Ruidoso Convention Center. Advance registration is requested by June 21, 2019.
VOR Continues to Update Comprehensive Plan
The Village of Ruidoso is updating the Village’s Comprehensive Plan, which identifies Ruidoso’s vision and priorities for the next 20 years. Please review the Draft Current Conditions Report and Draft Economic Development Assessment (Appendix to ED Assessment) that set the stage for the Comprehensive Plan and come share your ideas at our next Community Meeting at 5:30 pm on April 10th, 2019.

Lincoln National Forest Partners with Mescalero Apache on Restoration Project after Little Bear Fire
Work has begun as part of a new partnership between the Mescalero Apache Tribe and Lincoln National Forest to restore the ski area landscape including tree planting, addressing a spruce beetle outbreak, and aspen restoration work.

Lincoln Country & Tribal Officials Form Group to Focus on School Safety
Officials from Lincoln County, the Village of Ruidoso and law enforcement agencies in Lincoln County along with the Mescalero Tribe and the local schools have formed a strategy working group for the purpose of facilitating the exchange of information and training that will hopefully lead to improved coordination and response to any threat in our region.
