Ruidoso Returns to Level I Fire Restrictions
Following the recent precipitation that has reduced fire danger in New Mexico, the Village of Ruidoso has issued Executive Order 2022-03 rescinding the extreme fire protections implemented by Executive Order 2022 on May 19, 2022. The current fire restrictions in Ruidoso are at LEVEL I.
Lincoln National Forest Reopens on Friday, June 24, 2022
The Lincoln National Forest will reopen on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 8 am after being closed for a month due to fire danger. All three national forest districts received substantial rain over the past two weeks, which significantly lowered fire danger. The Lincoln National Forest will also lift fire restrictions.
Town Hall Meeting Notice: Sudderth Drive Enhanced E911 Emergency Management System
A town hall meeting will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 6 pm for the owners and occupants of Sudderth Drive regarding addressing changes related to an enhanced E911 Emergency Management System. The meeting will be held at 313 Cree Meadows Drive, Ruidoso, New Mexico, and via Zoom.

Gavilan Canyon Road Construction June 13 - 30, 2022
Gavilan Canyon Road will be under construction Starting June 13 through June 30, 2022. Single lane flagged traffic will be ongoing for the remainder of the workdays. There will be DELAYS! Please Seek Alternative Routes! Watch for crews working, approach with caution! Updates to follow as needed.
Update: Cienigita Fire on Mescalero Reservation - June 7, 2022
The Cienegita Fire, located approximately four miles northwest of the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation, remains at 37 acres. Crews and aerial resources made excellent progress over the past day bringing the fire’s total containment to 95%. There are currently no Ruidoso neighborhoods in any phase of the READY, SET, GO evacuation status.

The Cienegita Fire, located approximately four miles northwest of the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation, has maintained 37 acres. Crews are making excellent progress in containing the fire at a 56% containment. There are currently no Ruidoso neighborhoods in any phase of the READY, SET, GO evacuation status.

After working with the IC on the Type 3 Team for the Cienigita Fire, the Village of Ruidoso has lifted the READY status on the west end of the Upper Canyon, Perk Canyon, and Brady Canyon.

Update: Cienigita Fire on Mescalero Reservation - June 5, 2022 at 8:00 pm
The Cienegita Fire was ignited by lightning on June 3 after multiple lightning strikes hit the area. The fire is located approximately four miles northwest of the Village of Ruidoso, New Mexico, on the Mescalero Apache Indian Reservation and is 37 acres with 25% contained. There are no mandatory evacuation notices in effect; however, Upper Canyon, Park Canyon, and Brady Canyon, within the Village of Ruidoso, is in a state of readiness to evacuate, if necessary.

Winds are expected to be 15-20 mph today. A Type 3 Incident Management Team was ordered yesterday and is expected to arrive within 24 hrs. At this time, the west end of the Upper Canyon, Brady Canyon, Perk Canyon, Cedar Creek, and Alpine Village remain on READY status out of an abundance of caution. We will continue to keep you updated here as we learn more.

The Village of Ruidoso has put Alpine Village, Cedar Creek, the west end of the Upper Canyon, Brady Canyon, and Perk Canyon on READY status due to the Cienigita Fire that is currently burning on the Reservation. This is being done out of an abundance of caution.

SBA to Close Its Business Recovery Center in Ruidoso
May 26, 2022 - Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West announced today that SBA will close its Ruidoso Business Recovery Center at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022. The center will also be closed for Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.
BLM Roswell issues emergency closure for Ft. Stanton-Snowy River Cave NCA and Lincoln tracts
Due to extreme fire danger, the Bureau of Land Management Roswell Field Office will temporarily close the Fort Stanton-Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area and Rio Bonito Acquired Lands, also known as the Lincoln tracts. The closure is effective on May 25, 2022, at 8 a.m., and will continue until further notice.

Gavilan Canyon Road Construction Project
The Ruidoso Street Department and the County of Lincoln will be doing road construction near the 500 block of Gavilan Canyon Road from May 23 to June 2, 2022. The construction is to add drainage improvements in an effort to mitigate the increased water flows expected during the upcoming monsoon season caused by the recent wildfire. Construction will be ongoing through June 2, 2022. There will be closures and delays. Please seek alternative routes.
Financial relief heading to New Mexicans this week
SANTA FE— Gov. Lujan Grisham announced on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, that $200 million in household relief is on its way to over 550,000 New Mexico taxpayers. Taxpayers who receive funds through direct deposit are scheduled to receive at least $250 in relief in the next day. Paper checks for another 200,000 taxpayers will begin going out in the following days and will continue to over the next few weeks.
