Ruidoso Community Center Completes Major Renovations to Improve Safety and Functionality
In recent months, the Ruidoso Community Center completed significant renovations, thanks to a $372,826 grant from the New Mexico Aging & Long-Term Services Capital Outlay Department. White Sands Construction led the project to upgrade the facility's commercial kitchen and four restrooms to meet modern safety standards and improve functionality.
The commercial kitchen was redesigned to enhance its efficiency, particularly for preparing affordable meals served weekly to the public. Improvements included the installation of fiberglass-reinforced plastic and stainless steel on all walls to ensure sanitary conditions and cover exposed electrical lines. A new pass-through window was added between the kitchen and dining room to streamline dish collection and reduce traffic in the kitchen. Additional renovations involved reworking the ceiling in the dining room, kitchen, and storage areas to maintain cleanliness and relocating the kitchen entry near the newly built storage area with shelves for better food service organization.
Restroom upgrades aimed to provide greater privacy and cleanliness for patrons. New sinks, countertops, and vanities were installed, along with full wall tiling, to address cleanliness concerns. Automatic faucets were added for convenience, and large restroom stalls were equipped with doors for enhanced privacy.
Over the past 13 years, the Ruidoso Community Center has undergone several renovation phases to ensure the facility remains a safe and welcoming space for community activities. The staff remains committed to improving and offering all patrons the best experience.
