Village of Ruidoso Introduces Over-the-Counter Plan Check Service
The Village of Ruidoso has introduced a new expedited Over-the-Counter Permitting service in which the Ruidoso Building Permits and Inspection staff will review your plans to ease the transition from concept to permit. This new service is offered on a first come/first serve basis, Monday thru Friday from 8:00 - 9:30 AM, with 30-minute time allotments.
Village of Ruidoso Releases Winter Storm Plan for 2022-2023
In preparation for the winter season, the Village of Ruidoso releases its Winter Plan as a framework for the Village’s readiness and response to winter storms and its plans to keep Ruidoso moving safely.
Included are Village plans to:
Keep roads, sidewalks, walking paths, and trails open, clear, and safe.
Ensure the continuance of essential services following major inclement weather situations by clearing accumulated snowfall.
Provide a uniform plan, or level of service, to be followed during emergency snow and ice storms.
Kinetic to Bring Fiber Internet to 8,000 Ruidoso Customers
Some 8,000 homes and businesses in Ruidoso will soon, for the first time, be equipped with high-speed fiber, a result of a public-private partnership between the Village of Ruidoso and internet provider Kinetic. The village committed up to $2 million of American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 stimulus funds it received to the project. Kinetic will pay $4.8 million and pledged to complete the project by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
New Mexicans Have Five Days Left to Apply for Assistance from FEMA
New Mexicans impacted by the wildfires and subsequent flooding from burn scars have only five days left to apply for assistance from FEMA. The final deadline to apply is Monday, Nov. 7, 2022. FEMA assistance can help residents find temporary housing, rebuild their homes, replace destroyed property, and more. Don’t delay. Apply today!

Notice of Construction: Ruidoso Sewer Project Hazard Mitigation Work October 3, 2022 through December 20, 2022
Heavy Civil Construction company, AUI Inc. will begin construction on the Hazard Mitigation project in the Location 8A area on October 3, 2022. This work includes reconstructing the existing 8” sanitary sewer line from 121 Singing Pine Rd to 113 Singing Pine Rd. As part of the sewer line replacement and protection, AUI will construct a floodwall along the length and encase the new sewer line in concrete. As part of the reconstruction, the existing concrete encased manhole near 121 Singing Pine Rd. will be removed and replaced. Construction at this location is expected to take a bit over eleven (11) weeks to be performed and is anticipated to run from October 3, 2022, to December 20, 2022.

FEMA Mobile Units Deployed to Assist New Mexico Residents
FEMA Mobile Disaster Recovery Centers (MDRCs) will be stationed in various locations through early October to help eligible New Mexico residents apply for disaster assistance whose homes or personal property were damaged by wildfires and/or subsequent flooding directly related to the burn scars. No appointments are necessary to visit a DRC. However, the fastest and easiest way to apply for federal disaster assistance is online at: disasterassistance.gov/.
McBride Fire Burn Scar Recovery Efforts Continue
The Village of Ruidoso has been working with regional and state partners to help recovery efforts in Gavilan Canyon after the McBride Fire. The fire burned through Gavilan Canyon into the Eagle Creek drainage in early April 2022.
Ruidoso Sewer Project Video Recording September 23 - 25, 2022
RUIDOSO, NM – September 16, 2022 – J. Aimone Associates, a subcontractor for AUI Inc., will be performing the required digital video recording for the Village of Ruidoso’s Hazard Mitigation phase in the Upper and Middle Canyon areas beginning Friday, September 23 through Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Village of Ruidoso makes recycled asphalt available to assist in mitigating flood damage
Following the heavy monsoon precipitation that has caused significant localized flooding, Mayor Crawford issued Executive Order 2022-05 on August 25, 2022, making excess recycled asphalt available to residents and property owners to mitigate the damages caused by the record rainfalls.
ROADS IN THE VILLAGE RE-OPEN AFTER RAINS
RUIDOSO, NM – August 20, 2022 – After receiving a large amount of precipitation yesterday and today which forced several road closures in the Village, crews have removed debris and re-opened Paradise Canyon from Hull Road to Sudderth Drive and Meander Drive to Reese Drive. In addition, Gavilan Canyon Drive has re-opened from Meander Drive to Hull Road along with Warrior Drive.
HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED OVER NEXT THREE DAYS IN RUIDOSO & LINCOLN COUNTY
RUIDOSO, NM – August 19, 2022 – The Village of Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Lincoln County, and surrounding areas are expected to receive heavy amounts of precipitation for the next 48 hours. The Village has partnered with all surrounding jurisdictions and is prepared to respond in a manner to best protect life and property.
Surface Maintenance Repair Work on Mechem Drive to Begin on August 22, 2022
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Two is performing maintenance surface repair work on Mechem Drive (N.M. 48) in Ruidoso. Weather permitting, the maintenance project is expected to take two months to complete. The $3.7 million resurfacing work is expected to begin on August 22 with one-lane closures and short delays between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Wildfire Business Assistance Grants Now Available
Businesses and self-employed individuals who experienced financial loss due to recent wildfires will soon be able to apply for financial assistance through the Economic Development Department's Wildfire Business Assistance Grant Program. Eligible applicants may qualify for up to $20,000 in support. Applications will open on Aug. 15 and will close on Aug. 26, 2022.
