Main Road Bridge Update #10 - March 23, 2018

[Project Update]

Friday, March 16, 2018:  Roper Construction grouted bridge footings, and began removing overburden from under and around the bridge

Monday, March 19, 2018:  Kimo Construction began mobilizing on-site, and  Roper Construction continued to remove overburden and do final compaction on the North West Gabion Basket footings.

Tuesday, March 20, 2018:  Kimo Construction began the construction of the wire baskets and began placement of baskets and rip-rap rock. Roper Construction re-channelized the river and began work on the footings on the northeast side on the bridge.

Wednesday, March 21, 2018: Met with Roper Construction and Zia Engineering on-site to discuss the two pending change orders.  We also discussed the first 6 submittals and the plan forward with submittals on base course.  Roper Construction, Zia Engineering and the Village of Ruidoso discussed the elevations of the Gabion Baskets.  Zia Engineering will look into getting finished elevations of Gabion Baskets. Kimo Construction continues to place and fill Gabion Baskets on the northeast side of the bridge.

Thursday, March 22, 2018: Roper Construction continued to prepare footings on the northwest side of the bridge. Kimo Construction continued to fill and place Gabion Baskets on the northeast side of the bridge.  Zia Engineering was contacted and will be on-site Friday to verify elevations of Gabion Baskets. 

Anticipated progress for next week:

·      Continue with the construction and placement of Gabion Baskets.

·      Construction and placement of the Gabion Baskets to armor the sides of the river both upstream and downstream of the bridge will continue for approximately the next three weeks.
