Ruidoso Moves to Level II Fire Restrictions

As of 8:00 AM, Tuesday, April 17, Fire Chief Cody Thetford has raised the fire restrictions in the Village of Ruidoso to Level II. This means that in addition to no campfires, fireworks or fire pits, no smoking will be allowed outside on public or private property - smoking must be within an enclosed vehicle or building (unless in areas specifically permitted by the Fire Marshal).

"Due to the lack of winter moisture, we all have to be extra diligent during the spring fire season to ensure the safety of our Village," said Chief Thetford. "We have many visitors coming through the area, and it is important that we work as a community to keep them apprised of our fire restrictions. So put the word out and let's all work together to make sure we have a safe and uneventful fire season."

Please be aware of your surroundings and visit the Ruidoso Fire Department for more information on fire restrictions. Also visit the Village of Ruidoso's Emergency Preparedness page to learn how you can be sure that you and your family are prepared in case of an emergency situation.

If you see any suspicious smoke, please call 911.
