Informational Meeting Set for May 1, 2018: How to Become a Lyft Rideshare Driver

A question and answer session is scheduled for May 1, 2018, to provide information to those interested in becoming a Lyft driver in the Ruidoso area.

"We are having a Q&A at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Village Hall," Tourism Director Justin Huffmon said. "It’ll be an hour meeting to help educate people on the sign up process, as well as disseminating information on the riding process.

Huffmon worked on weekends and off-regular work hours as a lyft driver when he lived in Denver, and he said it was a good way to earn some extra money on a person's independent schedule.

Sign up is accomplished online. The company runs background and driving record checks before accepting an applicant, Huffmon said. He envisions an active Lyft group in the village helping out on holiday weekends, special events and during other heavy tourist times, as well as being there for local residents. When he worked at Ski Apache, he often was asked about arranging transportation to the ski area, he said.
