Process for Addressing Wind and Fire Event Damaged Structures
The Village is working to make sure every home impacted by the McBride fire and related wind event can recover quickly and completely. As recovery efforts are underway, we will continue to provide resources for rebuilding, including the latest information for permits and property tax assessments to help you recover and rebuild as quickly as possible.
Grindstone Lake Operating on Summer Reservation System
In an effort to preserve our natural resources and manage visitor capacity, the Village of Ruidoso will require a daily parking fee at Grindstone Lake and advance parking reservations to access Grindstone (Fri./Sat./Sun.) from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM throughout the summer. The parking fee is $10 per vehicle. No advance reservations are required at Grindstone Monday - Thursday. MAKE ONLINE RESERVATIONS HERE >> There is no charge or reservation requirement at Alto Lake.

The Ruidoso Police Department has received information from citizens that they have received calls that have been identified as potential IRS phone scams. You can avoid falling for an IRS scam if you know how to spot these scammers and their tricks, which starts with knowing how the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) contacts taxpayers. Here is a list of things a tax scammer will do but the IRS will NEVER do.
Don't Depend On Luck: Be prepared for the coming wildfire season.
March brings the first signs of spring to drought-stricken Southern New Mexico landscapes, including warmer temperatures, windy conditions, and the potential onset of wildfires. To prepare for the 2021 wildfire season, the Lincoln National Forest is working with partners at other forests, state and federal agencies, and non-governmental organizations on a year-round wildfire preparedness campaign. With Saint Patrick’s Day approaching, our message is: don’t depend on luck – be aware and prepared.
Information on Maintaining or Restoring Water Quality in Buildings with Low or No Use
Building and business closures for weeks or months reduce water usage, potentially leading to stagnant water inside building plumbing. This water can become unsafe to drink or otherwise use for domestic or commercial purposes. The EPA recommends that building owners and managers take proactive steps to protect public health by minimizing water stagnation during closures and taking action to address building water quality prior to reopening.

Do not flush hygiene wipes and other toilet paper alternatives during COVID-19 pandemic
With the current shortage of toilet paper, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people are turning to other paper products for sanitary needs. The Village of Ruidoso is asking that residents please refrain from flushing wipes, paper towels, disinfecting wipes and similar products down the toilet. These products are not flushable and clog the system creating sewer backups.
