This precautionary advisory has been issued to warn of a potential threat to public health by recreation in these waters. Please avoid swimming, wading, or fishing while this advisory is active until further notice. This advisory applies to the Rio Ruidoso downstream of Martin Road in the Upper Canyon.

The Village of Ruidoso has rescinded a wastewater release advisory that was issued last Thursday after SAK Construction LLC, a contractor that was working on the Sewer Line Replacement Project, inadvertently released raw sewage into the Rio Ruidoso during the installation of slip lining. The incident occurred near the Ruidoso Downs Race Track.

The Village of Ruidoso and City of Ruidoso Downs Regional Wastewater Treatment Plan Joint Use Board (JUB) invite the public to comment on the revised Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) and proposed amendments to the surface water quality standards (20.6.4. NMAC) for the lower Rio Ruidoso and upper Rio Hondo in Lincoln County, New Mexico. The final comment period begins January 20, 2021, and closes February 20, 2021, at 5:00 PM MST.

Notice of Public Comment Period for UAA Extended to February 16th
The Village of Ruidoso and City of Ruidoso Downs Regional Wastewater Treatment Plan Joint Use Board (JUB) have extended the public comment period on the draft Use Attainability Analysis (UAA) and proposed amendments to the surface water quality standards (20.6.4. NMAC) for the lower Rio Ruidoso and upper Rio Hondo in Lincoln County, New Mexico to December 19, 2017.
