RUIDOSO, NM – The Village of Ruidoso and the Ruidoso Midtown Association are preparing to kick-off the Center Street renovation project.
The project includes the renovation of Center Street from Sudderth Drive south to the intersection of Center Street and Wingfield Street. It will include new curbs and gutters, new sidewalks on both sides of the road and a slightly enlarged public parking lot behind Timbers Mall. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by Thursday, May 26, 2022. Intermittent closings of the parking lot behind Timbers Mall and Center Street can be expected for the duration of the project.
Phase 1 of the project will start on February 14th with the parking lot on Center Street. The parking lot will be closed for work beginning February 14 and is estimated to be closed for 4-5 weeks.
Phase 2 of the project will include the renovation of Center Street and Texas Street to Wingfield Street, which requires the closure of Center Street beginning March 21st. The closure is expected to last 9 weeks. The road will be reopened to traffic as construction permits.
Phase 3 will begin March 28th and includes the renovation of Center Street which will be closed from Texas Street north to Sudderth Drive for 6-8 weeks. The road will be reopened to traffic as construction permits.
Access will be provided to the public parking areas on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of each week as construction safely allows. Signage will be placed to direct visitors to open businesses, public parking areas, and restrooms.
The Village of Ruidoso and the Ruidoso Midtown Association will be in communication with the Main Street Program and Midtown businesses to minimize and mitigate any conflicts.
