Village of Ruidoso Issues Level II Fire Protections
The Village of Ruidoso, NM, has implemented Level II fire restrictions effective immediately on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Noon. These additional fire protections will remain in effect until officials determine that conditions have changed sufficiently to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfire.
Level II Fire Restrictions
PROHIBITIONS:
NO CHARCOAL BRIQUETS OR OUTDOOR BURNING STOVES ON ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY.
UL/FM-APPROVED GAS AND PELLET GRILLS SHALL BE ALLOWED.
NO OUTSIDE SMOKING ON PUBLIC OR PRIVATE PROPERTY. EXCEPT WITHIN AN ENCLOSED VEHICLE OR BUILDING (unless in areas specifically permitted by the Fire Marshal).
FIREWORKS ARE RESTRICTED BY STATE LAW.
NO CAMPFIRES.
OPERATING A CHAINSAW OR OTHER EQUIPMENT POWERED BY AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE IS ALLOWED SO LONG AS IT IS EQUIPPED WITH A SPARK ARRESTING DEVICE AND IS IN EFFECTIVE WORKING ORDER.
OPEN FIRES CONDUCTED WHILE IN PURSUIT OF ONE'S PROFESSION {WELDING, HOT TAR ROOFING, DRIVEWAY SEALING, ETC.) ARE ALLOWED BY PERMIT ONLY.
ALL ISSUED FIRE PERMITS FOR RECREATIONAL FIRE DEVICES AND WOOD-BURNING HEAT DEVICES ARE VOID AND WILL BE REINSTATED WHEN THE FIRE DANGER LOWERS TO LEVEL I.
MESSAGE TO FIRE PIT PERMIT HOLDERS:
All issued fire pit permits are temporarily suspended until extreme drought conditions cease. You will be emailed once the restrictions are lifted and returned to LEVEL I. Your permits will remain valid until their expiration date. If you own a short-term rental, please immediately notify your guests.
EMERGENCY SIRENS:
If you hear the sirens tune your radio to 1490 AM Village of Ruidoso Community Radio.
VIOLATIONS:
Citations will be issued. No exceptions. No warnings. We will notify the public immediately of any changes. Thank you for your cooperation.
