Village of Ruidoso makes recycled asphalt available to assist in mitigating flood damage
Following the heavy monsoon precipitation that has caused significant localized flooding, Mayor Crawford issued Executive Order 2022-05 on August 25, 2022, making excess recycled asphalt available to residents and property owners to mitigate the damages caused by the record rainfalls.
ROADS IN THE VILLAGE RE-OPEN AFTER RAINS
RUIDOSO, NM – August 20, 2022 – After receiving a large amount of precipitation yesterday and today which forced several road closures in the Village, crews have removed debris and re-opened Paradise Canyon from Hull Road to Sudderth Drive and Meander Drive to Reese Drive. In addition, Gavilan Canyon Drive has re-opened from Meander Drive to Hull Road along with Warrior Drive.
HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED OVER NEXT THREE DAYS IN RUIDOSO & LINCOLN COUNTY
RUIDOSO, NM – August 19, 2022 – The Village of Ruidoso, Ruidoso Downs, Lincoln County, and surrounding areas are expected to receive heavy amounts of precipitation for the next 48 hours. The Village has partnered with all surrounding jurisdictions and is prepared to respond in a manner to best protect life and property.
Surface Maintenance Repair Work on Mechem Drive to Begin on August 22, 2022
The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) District Two is performing maintenance surface repair work on Mechem Drive (N.M. 48) in Ruidoso. Weather permitting, the maintenance project is expected to take two months to complete. The $3.7 million resurfacing work is expected to begin on August 22 with one-lane closures and short delays between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

Wildfire Business Assistance Grants Now Available
Businesses and self-employed individuals who experienced financial loss due to recent wildfires will soon be able to apply for financial assistance through the Economic Development Department's Wildfire Business Assistance Grant Program. Eligible applicants may qualify for up to $20,000 in support. Applications will open on Aug. 15 and will close on Aug. 26, 2022. Ruidoso Sewer Line Rehabilitation Project Update
Survey crews will be working for the Village of Ruidoso to support the construction of the Hazard Mitigation phase in the Upper Canyon area beginning on Monday, August 8, 2022. Current survey work will be limited to the area along the river between 627 Main Road and 828 Main Road.
Paradise Canyon Paving Project
The paving project through Paradise Canyon is set to begin on August 4, 2022, as the contractor begins mobilizing and staging their equipment. Work will take place Monday-Thursday until the project is completed. There will be no paving taking place during the evenings, on Fridays, or on the weekends. There will be pilot cars that will assist motorists through the construction zone, or you can seek an alternate route. If you are traveling through the area, please use slow speeds and be aware of the crews that are working.

Village of Ruidoso Issues Temporary Abatement of Annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) Adjustment to Utility Rates to Help Offset Economic Hardship
On July 27, 2022, Ruidoso Mayor Lynn D. Crawford issued Executive Order 2022-04, which states the CPI adjustment to utility rates as provided in the Village of Ruidoso Code of Ordinances shall not be applied until the entire Governing Body of the Village of Ruidoso has met in open session to discuss this matter further.

The Village of Ruidoso will host two public meetings on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to seek public input for the 2024-2028 Village of Ruidoso Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP). Additional housing assistance available for New Mexicans affected by wildfires
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted New Mexico’s request for Direct Temporary Housing Assistance, initiating a process that will make housing assistance available to eligible New Mexicans who have been affected by wildfire in Lincoln, Mora, and San Miguel counties. Address Changes Coming to Ruidoso
The Village of Ruidoso is in the process of correcting the E-911 addressing issues in our community which is vital to help ensure life safety for our residents and visitors. Addresses have already been changed on Highway 70, followed by Sudderth and Mechem. Businesses will have 120 days to implement their new address information.

Ruidoso Returns to Level I Fire Restrictions
Following the recent precipitation that has reduced fire danger in New Mexico, the Village of Ruidoso has issued Executive Order 2022-03 rescinding the extreme fire protections implemented by Executive Order 2022 on May 19, 2022. The current fire restrictions in Ruidoso are at LEVEL I.
Lincoln National Forest Reopens on Friday, June 24, 2022
The Lincoln National Forest will reopen on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 8 am after being closed for a month due to fire danger. All three national forest districts received substantial rain over the past two weeks, which significantly lowered fire danger. The Lincoln National Forest will also lift fire restrictions.
