Lincoln National Forest announces increase in fees for 2024
The Lincoln National Forest (LNF ) is increasing camping fees at four developed campgrounds, decreasing extra vehicle fees at two campgrounds, and increasing a daily shelter reservation fee for the Cedar Creek Group picnic area. The forest is also adding a standard amenity recreation fee to three day-use areas and increasing fees for the Sam Tobias Memorial Group Campground.
Important Community Meeting: Provide Your Input on Center Street Traffic Study and Closure Proposal

The Parks & Recreation Commission will host a meeting at 5:00 PM in the Council Chambers at Village Hall. Community Review - Lincoln County Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Plan 2024 Update
UPDATE: JANUARY 8, 2024: Thank you to those who provided comments in the summer and fall of 2023. Based on your input, The Planning Team incorporated feedback, collaborated with the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and finalized the document with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Adoption of the plan is scheduled for discussion by the six governing bodies in January 2024. Once FEMA issues a final approval letter, the Hazard Mitigation Plan will be accessible for reference, allowing community members to monitor its implementation progress. Ruidoso Community Center Transforms into Warming Center In Response to Winter Weather Event
Due to a Winter Weather Advisory predicting dangerous conditions, the Village of Ruidoso has activated the Ruidoso Community Center as an overnight Warming Center equipped with essentials like cots and blankets from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on January 7, 8, and 9, 2024, to ensure community safety during the severe weather period. Pet assistance is also available to transfer animals to the Humane Society of Lincoln County. The initiative also urges residents to check on elderly neighbors, insulate against freezing temperatures, and bring pets indoors. The Village of Ruidoso emphasizes the importance of community solidarity during this Winter Weather Event. Stay safe, stay warm, and stay connected.

Get your Christmas tree-cutting permit for Lincoln National Forest
If you’re feeling ambitious and want to cut your own Christmas tree, Lincoln National Forest will begin selling Christmas tree permits on November 14, 2023. The cost is $10 each plus a $2.50 processing fee with a limited number of permits available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a limit of one permit per household.
