Ruidoso Has Big Plans for White Mountain Recreational Complex
The Village of Ruidoso is in the final stages of acquiring an additional 9.5 acres of adjacent land to White Mountain Recreation Complex for the purpose of adding more open space and athletic fields in alignment with a 2020 Ruidoso Village Council vote and public survey.
Ruidoso Community Center Announces April 2021 Activities Calendar
After an extended closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ruidoso Community Center is open to the public with the following in-person activities planned for April. In compliance with the New Mexico public health directives, visitors will be required to wear masks and adhere to 6-foot social distancing requirements, can expect reduced capacities, stringent cleaning protocols, and customer check-in with temperature screenings.
Ruidoso Community Center To Resume Programming on March 8, 2021
After being closed for almost a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ruidoso Community Center will open its doors to the public again on Monday, March 8, 2021. One of the first events to kick-off will be the Friday $1 Pitch-In Breakfast which will start at 8:00 AM on Friday, March 12.
Ruidoso Police Chief Announces Retirement
Police Chief Darren Hooker has announced that he will retire from the Ruidoso Police Department on March 31st. Hooker has been the Chief of Police since October of 2015 when he joined the department.
Feasibility Study Public Information Meeting - Feb. 25, 2021
The Village of Ruidoso is completing a feasibility study on the intersection of US 70 and NM 48. Proposed alternatives have been developed to enhance operations at the intersection as well as provide additional improvements to address access, capacity, and ADA accessibility issues along NM 48 west from US 70 to Mescalero Trail. Attention General Contractors - Important Information About Electrical Inspections
Electrical inspections will be performed by CID (Construction Industries Division) until February 4, 2021. CID will require a conversion permit (inspection permit) prior to inspection and will cost $30. Please contact Richard Lucero at 505-660-3752 to obtain the permit. Forest Service and NRCS Awarded $500,000 for Project Near Sierra Blanca
The Lincoln National Forest and the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) has been awarded over half a million dollars through the Joint Chiefs’ Landscape Restoration Partnership for forest restoration near Sierra Blanca in Otero and Lincoln counties.

Department of Health county map update: 33 counties operating at Red Level beginning Dec. 16, 2020
The New Mexico Department of Health announced the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning Dec. 16, with all 33 counties at the Red Level. Twenty-seven counties, however, improved in at least one of the two health gating criteria metrics, and 23 improved in both metrics, underscoring an improving COVID-19 outlook across the state.

On Friday, November 13, 2020,, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced a new Public Health Order that will go into effect for two weeks beginning Monday, November 16 – Monday, November 30. The new order temporarily re-enacts a statewide order closing in-person services for all non-essential activities in an effort to curb the unprecedented spike of COVID-19 cases and to attempt to relieve escalating strain on hospitals and health care providers across the state.

Construction on the Ruidoso Sewer Line Interceptor Project begins Thursday, November 12, 2020, as SAK Construction begins installing a special liner inside the existing sewer main to renew the sewer quickly and without excavation. Village of Ruidoso to Begin Disbursing CARES Act Grant Funds to Local Businesses
In an effort to help small businesses that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Village of Ruidoso recently applied for and received $2,787,792 from the State of New Mexico. Of that amount, $1,171,500 was earmarked specifically for loans to small businesses in the Village that have suffered economic hardship during the past seven months.
