The week of August 30 - September 3, 2021, MP Chavez will continue working on the pipe construction located at the intersection of River Trail and Country Club. Tuesday and Wednesday, September 7-8, we will be working on the point of repair located at 103 North Loop. Please look for signs indicating which road and lane will be closed. Approach the area with caution, at a very slow speed, and watch for employees directing traffic.
Lincoln National Forest to Host Three Virtual Public Meetings on Management of the Forest for the Next Decade
Lincoln National Forest is hosting three virtual public meetings to discuss the Draft Forest Plan and Draft Environmental Impact Statement. This is a part of the Forest Plan Revision process. The Forest Plan will guide forest management practices for the 1.1 million-acre Lincoln National Forest in Southern New Mexico for the next 10 to 15 years.
Governor signs emergency declaration for Village of Ruidoso
Declaration provides new resources to support recovery from last month’s severe storms and flooding. Governor Lujan Grisham on Tuesday signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency for the Village of Ruidoso. This order aims to provide local officials with the tools and funding they need to begin recovering from the heavy rainfall and flooding that began early last month.
New Mexico to re-implement indoor mask mandate; vaccinations required in hospitals, congregate settings
Effective August 20, 2021, the state of New Mexico will temporarily re-implement a statewide requirement that facemasks be worn in all public indoor spaces, with only limited exceptions, and regardless of vaccination status, to stem the state’s rising tide of COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations.
Flood 2021: Emergency Procurement to Perform CCTV and Sewer Line Clean Up
Beginning Monday, August 16, 2021, the Village of Ruidoso will be continuing its efforts with identifying and repairing infrastructure damaged by the recent Heavy Precipitation and Flood Event – FLOOD2021 – from Upper Canyon to the Midtown area. Work hours anticipated are approx. 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily.
Street Closure: August 16 - 19, 2021
Beginning August 16 through August 19 from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am, the Village of Ruidoso will be performing maintenance on the main sewer lines on Mechem Drive from the turnoff to Alpine Village to Sudderth Drive. The road will be one lane throughout Mechem Drive at different areas where the maintenance will be performed (manholes). Please approach the area with caution and at a low rate of speed.
Funding Requests Due by August 24, 2021, for Fiscal Year 2022
The Internal Finance committee (IFC) will be meeting on Friday, Aug 27, 2021, at 1:00 pm to consider funding requests from outside agencies. The IFC will then make a recommendation to the Village Council at their next regular meeting. Please download and return a request form and submit it by email to finance@ruidoso-nm.gov by Tuesday, August 24 at 4:00 pm to be considered for funding for FY2022.

In an effort to increase testing and help Lincoln County to cut its positivity rate and permit local businesses to operate under less restrictive public health measures, pop-up testing sites are now available across the county. Public Information Meetings - Village of Ruidoso Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP)
The Village of Ruidoso will host two public meetings on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to seek public input for the 2023-2027 Village of Ruidoso Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP). The meetings will be held via Zoom and in-person at the Horton Complex, 134 Reese Drive, Ruidoso, NM. Residents are encouraged to participate.

Assessment and evaluation to begin on recent flood damage
Beginning Tuesday, July 27, 2021, the Village of Ruidoso will be continuing its efforts with the assessment of the recent Heavy Precipitation and Flood Event - FLOOD2021. We have engaged with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) – Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program and High Water Mark (HWM) to develop a team that will be walking the river from Upper Canyon to Midtown areas thru the RWWTP.
Grindstone Lake Operating on Summer Reservation System
In an effort to preserve our natural resources and manage visitor capacity, the Village of Ruidoso will require a daily parking fee at Grindstone Lake and advance parking reservations to access Grindstone (Fri./Sat./Sun.) from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM throughout the summer. The parking fee is $10 per vehicle. No advance reservations are required at Grindstone Monday - Thursday. MAKE ONLINE RESERVATIONS HERE >> There is no charge or reservation requirement at Alto Lake.

Village of Ruidoso Issues Wastewater Release Advisory
The Village of Ruidoso has issued a wastewater release advisory for the Rio Ruidoso area, downstream of Martin Road in the Upper Canyon. This precautionary advisory has been issued to warn of a potential threat to public health by recreation in these waters. Please avoid swimming, wading, or fishing while this advisory is active until further notice. This advisory applies to the Rio Ruidoso downstream of Martin Road in the Upper Canyon.

Lincoln National Forest Fire Restrictions Lifted Beginning Friday, July 2, 2021
July 1, 2021: The early arrival of the seasonal summer monsoons, accompanied by higher humidity levels and lower temperatures, has reduced fire danger across the forest resulting in the lifting of fire restrictions within Lincoln National Forest beginning Friday, July 2, 2021, at 6 am. Fires, campfires, grills, and smoking will once again be permitted within Lincoln National Forest. Fireworks remain prohibited and are always illegal in the National Forest.
