Village of Ruidoso Executive Order Reopens Lake Areas for Recreation as of May 1, 2020

Mayor Lynn Crawford has issued Executive Order 2020-06 which immediately reopens the Grindstone and Alto Lake Recreation Areas to the public for day use under NM social distancing and mass gatherings public health orders to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19.

The following is effective as of May 1, 2020:

  1. Effective immediately Grindstone Lake and Alto Lake recreation areas are reopened to the public for day use only.

  2. The public is directed to observe the Executive Orders issued by the Governor of the State of New Mexico effective as of Friday, May 1, 2020, at 12:01 a.m..

In open outdoor space, individuals need to practice social distancing, remain six feet from each other, wear face coverings and maintain proper hand sanitization. 

Boating is allowed year-round. All vessels require a permit, the term "vessel" means and includes boats, hand-propelled boats, sailboats, paddle boats, paddle boards and every description of watercraft used or capable of being used as a means of transportation on water. Electric motors allowed only at Grindstone Lake.

Boat Permits:Day Pass= $5  | Annual Pass= $20 (calendar year)
A permit is required and are available for purchase at Grindstone Lake or by calling Parks & Recreation at 575-257-5030.
