Village of Ruidoso Statement on Temporary Transfer of Water Rights
The Village of Ruidoso is completing the temporary transfer of up to 246 acre-feet of water rights (123 acre-feet of consumptive use) from the Ruidoso Downs Race Track to Village points of diversion for a maximum period of four years. This lease is the completion of a 30-year lease agreement the Village has with the Ruidoso Properties Irrevocable Management Trust.
Governor signs emergency declaration for Village of Ruidoso
Declaration provides new resources to support recovery from last month’s severe storms and flooding. Governor Lujan Grisham on Tuesday signed an executive order declaring a state of emergency for the Village of Ruidoso. This order aims to provide local officials with the tools and funding they need to begin recovering from the heavy rainfall and flooding that began early last month.
Village of Ruidoso Issues Wastewater Release Advisory
The Village of Ruidoso has issued a wastewater release advisory for the Rio Ruidoso area, downstream of Martin Road in the Upper Canyon. This precautionary advisory has been issued to warn of a potential threat to public health by recreation in these waters. Please avoid swimming, wading, or fishing while this advisory is active until further notice. This advisory applies to the Rio Ruidoso downstream of Martin Road in the Upper Canyon.
Ruidoso Police Respond to Shooting at Local Business
On June 6, 2021 at 1:36 PM, Ruidoso Police dispatch received a call of a shooting that had occurred in the 25000 block of US HWY 70 at a business. Officers arrived and found the victim, a 43-year-old male, at an adjacent business and immediately provided medical care until Emergency Services arrived.
UPDATE: Ruidoso Police Continue Investigation After Two Bodies Discovered
The Ruidoso Police Department investigation into the deaths of Jarrod and Tristina Simpson is ongoing. An autopsy of each body indicates that they both died of gunshot wounds. Ruidoso Police Investigating Potential Homicide
At approximately 2:46 PM on Tuesday, April 13, officers with the Ruidoso Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of La Luz Drive in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, the deceased bodies of 46-year-old Jarrod Simpson and 46-year-old Tristina Simpson were discovered. The investigation is ongoing with a collaborative effort by the Twelfth Judicial District Attorney’s Office Major Crime Unit (MCU). Suspect Arrested & Charged in Alvarado Homicide
Anthony Porras-Gonzales, 18, of Ruidoso was arrested last night in connection with the March 10th homicide of Briyan Alvarado. He has been charged with an open count of murder, tampering with evidence and shooting from a motor vehicle. He was booked and released into the Lincoln County Detention Center with no bond.
Ruidoso Police Respond to Shooting by Wingfield Park
RUIDOSO, NM – March 10, 2021 – At approximately 1:35 PM, Ruidoso Dispatch received a 911 call in reference to shots fired in the area of Chase and Wingfield. When officers arrived on the scene, there was a person in the roadway with gunshot wounds. A Ruidoso Police officer began life-saving measures until paramedics from Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services and Ruidoso Fire Department responded. The victim did not survive.
Ruidoso Police Chief Announces Retirement
Police Chief Darren Hooker has announced that he will retire from the Ruidoso Police Department on March 31st. Hooker has been the Chief of Police since October of 2015 when he joined the department.
HB11 Passes - $200 Million in Support for NM Businesses
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday applauded the legislative passage of House Bill 11, a priority for economic relief that will now head to her desk for signature. Sponsored by Speaker Brian Egolf and Rep. Christine Chandler, HB 11 provides $200 million in grants to support New Mexico businesses to ease the hiring or rehiring of employees. Each business may qualify for up to $100,000 to be distributed in four quarterly payments.
Department of Health county map update: 33 counties operating at Red Level beginning Dec. 16, 2020
The New Mexico Department of Health announced the updated statewide COVID-19 map for the two-week period beginning Dec. 16, with all 33 counties at the Red Level. Twenty-seven counties, however, improved in at least one of the two health gating criteria metrics, and 23 improved in both metrics, underscoring an improving COVID-19 outlook across the state.
